The reasons the critics do not want to involve the hospital in such a “heroic venture” is because they felt Denise was not a good candidate for the surgery.

How to use textual evidence in short answer questions. 2. Provide textual evidence to prove your claim or argument. The critic felt that “Denise was too old… the seizures were coming from an area that made surgery too risky,.. and she was in terrible medical condition.” (pg. 164)

This means to me that the critics knew the surgery was very dangerous and felt that it was not in the best interest of the patient to put her through a surgery she most likely would not survive.

Now you put it all together. Ben Carson says he will never forget the story of Danielle, a baby born with a brain tumor. What makes this case memorable for the author? 1.Restate the question with your argument. 2. Provide textual evidence to support your argument. 3. Provide an analysis of the quote (your opinion)
