1 Samuel God’s First Lesson for Samuel...‘Go’ No surprises means no ‘recovery’ 1 Sam. 1:1 Now the Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go Is. 46:9.10 Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure,’

1 Samuel God’s Second Lesson for Samuel…’Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord’. God’s approved ‘cover-up’? Matt. 16:20 Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

1 Samuel God’s Third Lesson for Samuel… “for man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.” Samuel a little slow on the uptake? 1 Sam. 9:2b There was not a more handsome person than he among the children of Israel. From his shoulders upward he was taller than any of the people Ps. 51:16,17 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise.

1 Samuel God’s Third Lesson for Samuel… “for man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.” (2) David reveals his own heart Ps. 132:6-9 Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; We found it in the fields of the wood. Let us go into His tabernacle; Let us worship at His footstool. Arise O Lord, to Your resting place. You and the ark of your strength Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let Your saints shout for joy.

1 Samuel The Rejection of Saul is complete Judges 21:25In Those days there was no king in Israel and everyone did what was right in their own eyes. 1 Sam. 8:19,20 Nevertheless, the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel and they said, “No, but there shall be a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations Hosea 13: 11 “I gave you a king in my anger and took him away in my wrath.” 1 Sam. 16:14 Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord terrorized him.

1 Samuel Even from eternity I am He and there is none who can deliver out of my hand; I act and who can reverse it? Is. 43:13 We toss around ideas like ‘God’s sovereignty’ and ‘God’s immutability’ (inability to be changed), but what does it mean?
