READINESS - AN INTRODUCTION

Definition The fire company is ready when its members have the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to carry out the tactical operations required to meet the goals and objectives of the Incident Commander (IC).

Elements of Company Readiness The CO personally The company Knowledge of departmental operations Knowledge of district and community knowledge of resources available to company and department

COMPANY OFFICER’S PERSONAL READINESS

The CO must develop a body of knowledge that will provide for effective, safe company operations.

The CO must recognize that his/her major role is to direct the efforts of others.
