2 History of St Basil’s‘As long as it takes’ St Basils Church on Heath Mill Lane in Deritend 1971 The Double Zero Club was established by Revd Les Milner 1972 The Boot was the first youth homelessness shelter charity Reverend Les Milner - Managing Director 1972-2000 1982-1992 The Boot saw 150 young people a month, lack of space, building repairs, The New Boot was established, Runcorn Cluster, Tennyson House/Radford House 1992-2002 Carole Gething House, Priory House, Trentham House, Edmonds Court, Solihull, Floating Support, Family Mediation 2002-2015 What we do now…

3 What St Basil’s offer Young People Now Mediation with Families – 16-21 years old "They were there when I really needed them, when things got really bad. They didn't judge me or tell me what to do, they helped me to think things through. They would have got me a bed if I did (leave home). But I have managed to stay and look after my mum and get my own life and career going." Stamp- Schools Training and Mentoring Project: early intervention for children in years 7-11 We have over 27 residential services in the West Midlands Supporting over 400 young people

4 When housed with St Basil’s Regular “Keywork” meetings with designated Support Worker Provide advice and guidance – Informed choices Outcome Star – assessment tool Risk Tracker Quarterly support plan reviews Stay between 12-24 months Floating Support provided

5 Life Skills Modules- OCN Qualification and Graduation Ceremonies Personal budgeting and money management Developing skills for independent living Healthy living Using a domestic kitchen for cooking Understanding your pregnancy and preparation for your baby Developing skills in caring for young children Developing personal confidence and self awareness Alcohol and drugs awareness Sexual health awareness Building a career portfolio

6 Meeting the individual’s needs Intervention resources- Woman’s aid Children’s centre Staff training- sexual exploitation, drugs, alcohol, self-harm, depression C Card Training – Staff are trained to give advice on sexual health PIE – Psychologically Informed Support Environment
