Gothic Churches Sculptors carved lifelike sculptures and scenes from the Bible on the indoor and outdoor walls Fairytale animals and creatures included. Stained glass windows were very popular. Windows helped illiterate people understand the bible. The stained glass brought color into the church.

Paintings and Tapestries Artists would decorate books with little pictures called illumination, and they were made with a lot of color and detail. People who could not read could look at the picture and understand what the page was about. Artists would also create paintings in fabric and thread called tapestries and were used for decoration and to keep out cold drafts inside the stone churches.
