5. Egyptian Universities Network Egyptian Universities Network (EUN) was founded as a not for profit organization and a unit of the Supreme Council of Universities on 1987. EUN serves 19 Egyptian government universities and 20 different educational organizations. EUN is funded primarily by the Universities’ subscriptions and also by various services.

National backbone: The EUN backbone currently comprises 19 main nodes with 2(E3) fiber links which can be upgraded up to 1 Gb/s (the network is based on IP).
