2 Peel, Dufferin-Peel, Sheridan Proposal Elementary School Secondary School Pre-Trade Programs Work Further Education COTT Pre-Trades Pathways

3 Pre-Trades Pathways Offered in semester two to senior level (Grade 11 and 12) secondary students who are interested in a career in the machining or electrical trades Each Pathway Program is equivalent to the first seven week module in one of two 28 week Pre-Trades Programs at Sheridan

4 Electrical/Electrician Precision Machining and Tooling Pathways Students take courses at Sheridan’s Skills Training Centre in Oakville for two days or three days per week for 17 weeks beginning in mid-February Sheridan will assist students in finding paid work placements beginning in July.

5 Electrical/Electrician Pathway Subject Areas Electricity Practical Circuits Electrical Construction Skills Electrical Construction Theory – Residential, Prints and Standards Trade Safety

6 Precision Machining and Tooling Pathway Subject Areas Precision Machining Trade Practice Mechanical Drafting Fundamentals Precision Machining Trade Theory Mathematics for Precision Machining Trade Safety

7 Dual Credits Electrical/Electrician Pathway students receive 2 secondary school credits and 9 Sheridan credits (220 hours of classes) Precision Machining and Tooling Pathway students receive 2.5 secondary school credits and 9 Sheridan credits (330 hours of classes)

8 After Secondary School Graduates of a Pre-Trades Pathway who have a 60% or higher average and an OSSD will be offered Direct Entry into week 8 of a Sheridan Pre-Trades Program. This will enable students to continue in a paid work placement until the end of October

9 Electrical Pathway After Secondary School Complete Sheridan’s Electrician – Pre Trades Program Then become an Industrial or Construction and Maintenance Electrician apprentice Or use 12 credits towards a Technician or Technology Program

10 Machining and Tooling Pathway After Secondary School Complete Sheridan’s Mechanical Techniques – Tool and Die Maker Program Become a Tool and Die Maker, General Machinist, Industrial Mechanic Millwright,.. apprentice Or use 9 credits towards a Technician or Technology Program

11 Pre-Trades Pathways Secondary School Pre-Trade Programs Work Further Education Pre-Trades Pathways

12 Apprenticeship Pathway Pre-Trade Training Apprenticeship Work Career path with successful companies
