RAISEonline – new developments Stephen Jardine Communications & User Support RAISEonline Project Team 12 th November 2008

A joint Ofsted/DCSF project delivering online interactive end-of-key-stage data reporting and analysis for:  Schools  Local authority teams  School improvement partners  Inspectors (non-interactive) With further features for school users:  Data management of school data set  Question-level analysis  Target setting RAISEonline – what it is

New developments include:  Further reports for end of key stage data.  Reporting and analysis for special schools.  Empty data sets for new schools.  ‘Virtual schools’ for local authorities. New RAISEonline developments for 2008

New reports include:  Contextual attainment at KS1.  CVA three-year averages and thresholds.  Wider reporting of KS4 qualifications.  Graphic ‘stick people’ pupil progress reports for high attainers.  School-level absence reporting. New reports and analysis

Schedule:  October 2008 – access to the Full Report only for schools with KS1.  November – access to interactive reports (schools with KS1).  Schools without KS1 gain access when their first key stage data are released. The release includes:  Attainment reporting.  Value-added progress reporting (not CVA). Future development is under review. Special schools’ data in RAISEonline

 Previously, new schools didn’t get access to RAISEonline until their first key stage data were released.  From now on, if they wish, new schools will be able to request an empty data set in RAISEonline.  When they have uploaded the details of their pupils into the system, schools will be able to use QLA and target setting.  When key stage data are published, schools will access them from their existing accounts. RAISEonline provision for new schools

 Each virtual school is an empty data set in RAISEonline that can be populated by the LA.  LAs may request a number of virtual schools for different purposes- e.g. LAC, SEN, FSM.  Pupil limit is 49,000 – high enough for most LAs to upload all pupils in a phase. Local authority ‘virtual’ schools

 Changes will occur in RAISEonline reporting that reflect changes to way testing is carried out, such as the end of KS3 testing and the possible introduction of single-level tests.  We are currently considering which other developments should be prioritized for 2009.  Your feedback is welcomed. Looking to the future…
