Perimeter is the distance around the outside edges of an object. Can be measured in feet, inches, miles, centimeters, meters, or kilometers Area is the amount of space inside the edges of an object. Can me measured in square feet, square inches, square miles, square centimeters, square meters, or square kilometers Symmetry is when you can split an object in half and both sides look exactly the same. Symmetry isn’t something that you measure

Rug Measurements Length= 32 inches Width= 20 inches Perimeter= 104 inches Area= 640 square inches Perimeter Area

My mom said I could get a puppy, but I have to help my dad build a rectangle cage for it in the backyard. I want to make it big enough so my puppy has room to play. If I make the perimeter 40 feet what would the length and width be? How much area would my puppy have to play?
5
Perimeter= 15ft + 15ft + 5ft + 5ft =40 ft 30ft + 10ft =40ft Area = 15ft x 5ft=75 square feet 10 x 5= 50 and 5 x 5 = 25 so 50+25=75 5 ft 15 ft 5 ft

I would need to know how to find perimeter if I was building something. Like if I was building a sandbox with my dad or a box for a flower bed. I would need to know the perimeter to figure out how many pieces of wood we need to buy. I would need to know how to find the area if I was buying a new rug. Like if I was getting a new race track rug for my room I would need to know the area of it to make sure it will fit in my room.

I would use perimeter when making a garden with my group. We might want to put a border around it and we would need to know the perimeter. I would need to know the area of our garden so I can talk to the landscaper about how many plants we need to put in it to take up the space. I want to make sure our garden is the same on both sides so I would need to use a line of symmetry to make sure it is.
