Key Terms Gender Equality – The equal representation of Men and Women. Implying that they are of equal value and deserve equal treatment Stereotype – To believe that all people or things with a particular characteristic are the same Gender Gap – A disproportionate difference between Men and Women

Why They Shouldn’t Women who have played against men don’t believe it is realistic Women aren’t as physically strong as men (“Women are 66% as strong as Men”) The Gender Gaps have stabilized (no gender is progressing faster than the other) Religion would prevent some males from competing

Can Co-Ed Youth Sports Help? Youth sports are becoming privatized and kids are being specialized so youth co-ed sports aren’t as common as they used to be Pro’s: o Mutual Respect - By playing together at a young age, it will help teach children to be respectful of both genders. o Confidence and Cooperation - Cooperating with one another will help kids develop ways of learning from each other Cons’: o Skill Level - Boy’s end up getting taller and stronger than the girls, which could prove to be detrimental to the development of their skills o Comfortability - Boys might fear for being too aggressive with the girls
