Result Traditional career paths for researchers have been capped Only a small proportion of postdocs will continue into tenure positions This situation is not unique to UCC

Professional Skills for Research Leaders The PSRL suite is made up of six on-line programmes targeted to assist Research Leaders. 1.Introduction to Professional Skills for Research Leaders 2.Developing and consolidating your research career 3.Funding your research 4.Managing a research team 5.Research collaboration 6.Communicating your research

Accreditation: Institute of Leadership Management Application Process through City and Guilds

Quality Controls 1.ILM introduction required at the beginning of the programme 2.70% passing rate for the on-line exams 3.80% attendance rate for the workshops – blended learning. First and last workshop compulsory for all participants. 4.SCORM reports to be made available to provide stats on usage, time per module etc. 5.Copies of e-mails/blackboard activity from programme coordinator to participants 6.Extern requires access to the on-line system to complete external review at different periods during the year 7.Exit questionnaires/course assessments on each of the 6 programmes 8.As part of the last workshop a discussion on what worked/didn’t work etc. with participants with outcomes recorded

Who what where when Who What Where When brings together representatives from VP Research Office, HR Research, Research Finance, Technology Transfer, PRIME and Office of Corp and Legal Affairs for 10 minute each “nuts and bolts” talk to explain processes and procedures, what forms to use and when, and most importantly, how we all fit together during the pre and post grant proposal and approval process. The talks are followed by a questions and answer session.
