Beavers Written by Mrs. Senno’s 4 th Grade
2
BEAVERS This story is about how beavers survive. We learned how they hide from their enemies.
3
Beavers are amazing! Beavers live in a lodge which they build in a lake or pond. During the winter they make tunnels from their lodge to the bottom of the pond to get to their food source. They can hold their breath for up to 15 minutes on a single dive.
4
Humans are a threat to the beaver environment. Sometimes they cut down trees that beavers need to make lodges or dams. Humans wreck beaver dams because they want the water to flow as it always did.
5
Beaver babies are called kits. When adult beavers sense that their kits might be in trouble or being attacked by a predator they flap their large tails. When the kits hear the flapping they know to go back to their lodge. When other adult beavers hear it they come to help.
6
What we found most interesting about this book is that beavers can make a dam that could be up to 200 feet long.
7
While reading about beavers I learned to understand their behavior. I learned that all the adult beavers help protect the kits.
8
We liked this book because it had interesting facts and I learned a lot. I would recommend this book to a friend because they could learn a lot too!
