2 Our Mission The Canadian Cancer Society is a national, community-based organization of volunteers, whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. Our Vision Creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer.

3 How are we fighting cancer? doing everything we can to prevent cancer funding research to outsmart cancer empowering, informing and supporting Canadians living with cancer advocating for public policies to improve the health of Canadians rallying Canadians to get involved in the fight against cancer

5 Cancer Information Service Reliable, current and understandable information tailored to each caller’s request. Evidence-based information, not medical advice. Answers to all types of questions about cancer and community services. available from 9 AM to 6 PM English, French and 100+ languages staff have healthcare backgrounds

6 Peer support We strive to offer four opportunities to every caller: To be visited in-person by a cancer survivor. To talk with the survivor or caregiver who most closely resembles him/her. To meet with others in a group setting. To talk to a cancer information specialist.

8 a free and confidential service provided by phone and online personalized support, advice and information about quitting smoking follow up calls to provide continued support during the quitting process self-help materials and community referrals coordinators available throughout the province to give presentations and set up displays Smokers’ Helpline

9 Wheels of Hope Province-wide program for people without the means to get to treatment on their own. Helps overcome financial, physical or psychosocial barriers. In 2013, we travelled 219,000 kilometers and took 586 people to their treatment.
