3 Texas became a state in December 29, 1845. It was the 28 th state. Texas’s capital is Austin. Texas has a nickname of The Lone Star State.

5 Texas’s population is 23,507,783 people. The highest elevation is in Guadalupe Peak at 8,749 feet. It’s lowest elevation is in the entire Gulf Coast is in sea level. Texas doesn’t have any state taxes. Texas does have a NFL team, it is the Dallas Cowboys.

8 Texas lies within both “cool” and “warm” parts of the Temperate Zone of the Northern Hemisphere. Texas has three major climatic types which are classified as Continental, Mountain, and Modified Marine. There are no distinct boundaries which divide these climate types, but the approximate area of Texas that each encompasses is indicated on the following map by the broad stippled lines. That would be the climate of Texas.

9 There are a lot of important people in Texas and who was involved in Texas. I’m going to tell you a few. Kathy Baker was an actress, Denton A. Cooley was a heart surgeon, Jack Johnson was a boxer, and Rip Torn was an actor. The Senator of Texas is Jeff Wentworth. He is now serving in his sixth term.
