VERBS 1. A verb is a word that shows action or state of being.

2. A verb may have physical or mental action.
Physical – run, see, jump Mental – believe, worry, want

State-of-being verbs just state that something is.
They do NOT show action. Examples - She is a good student. We are Strack Cougars.

The state of being verbs are as follows: (Learn them by Thursday.)

5. Verb phrases are made up of two or more words –
Main verb + auxiliary (helping) verbs

be have can being has could been had will am do would is did shall are does should was may ought were might must

6. An interrupter is a word that comes between the helping and the main verbs.
It is not part of the verb phrase. Example: Alexis will probably make a good grade. It is not raining today.
