Have you ever heard yourself say….

Get it together with your Interactive Notebook!!!!

What is an Interactive Notebook? A place where all of your work – notes and class work will be kept. Your own personalized textbook!

Left Side – Right Side Each lesson will have a left side and a right side. Each page will be numbered so we’ll always be on the same page. Let’s number 1-25

Left Side Left is for learning! Left sides have even numbers. The left side is the teacher’s side. This side will have notes, question strips, articles, graphic organizers, vocabulary activities, etc.

Right Side Right is for reflection! Right sides have odd numbers. A chance to work with what you’ve learned and show what you know. This side will have comic strips, pictures, posters, acrostics, song lyrics, summaries, concept maps, etc.

Maintaining Your Interactive Notebook No ripped out pages or torn corners. No doodling that doesn’t relate to notes. Date and number each page.

Let’s get started! The cover of your ISN (Interactive Student Notebook) can be decorated on your own time. Your name has to be on the cover. You can use pictures and markers to decorate the cover. The cover should be a reflection of who you are. When you have finished, we will use clear tape to protect and reinforce your notebook.

Attaching Pages Often we will glue or tape pages into your ISN. Usually these pages will be on the left side (teacher side). We will also be attaching several pages today. Syllabus, Notebook requirements/ evaluation, right side activities.

Syllabus Now it’s time for your first homework assignment! On the right side page: Write a paragraph explaining your understanding of the ISN and evaluation.

Table of Contents You are required to keep an up to date table of contents. When you run out of room, you will attach a new sheet of paper to your table of contents page. Let’s start it now.

Author’s Historical Page Homework assignment number 2! Use this page to display the history of yourself. Ideas: – timeline of important events in your life –Lyrics that describe yourself –Pictures of yourself from various years with descriptions Be creative and make it yours!

ISN Evaluation Notebook checks are unannounced and occur randomly several times each marking period. At the end of each marking period, I will use a rubric to grade your ISN.

Before you submit your INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK for evaluation ask yourself: Do you think you could…. Use COLOR more effectively? Highlight more effectively? Improve the neatness of your writing?
