Late 1800s, Western educated Indians led nationalist movement
a. Western educated Indians spearheaded a movement fighting for western ideals such as democracy and equality.
b Created Indian National Congress which believed in peaceful protests.
c. INC wanted self rule –led by Gandhi
d – Muslim League Created –
thought Hindu run govt. would oppress Muslims.
e. Muslim League eventually wanted another separate Muslim state.
