4. USAR OVERVIEW  
Urban Search & Rescue (or USAR, or SAR) involves location, extrication and initial medical stabilization of victims trapped in a structural collapse due to natural / man made disasters. It may also include collapsed mines, trenches, swift water rescue, wide area search and has a subset of Fatality Search and Recovery. 4
