1 Leukocytosis 陳京瑜

2 Leukocytosis Normal value: 4,500 to 11,000 Infectious diseases
Inflammatory disease (such as RA or allergy) Leukemia Severe emotional or physical stress Tissue damage (such as burns) The use of corticosteroids, underactive adrenal glands, thyroid gland problems, certain medicines, or removal of the spleen

3 Atypical lymphocytosis
Viral illnesses EBV, CMV, toxoplasma, syphilis, GBS, hepatitis C Drug reactions –Hypersensitivity Syndrome Immunisations Radiation Hormonal causes Addison's disease Auto-immune disorders RA The WBC's seen here are "atypical" lymphocytes. They are atypical because they are larger (more cytoplasm) and have nucleoli in their nuclei. The cytoplasm tends to be indented by surrounding RBC's. Such atypical lymphocytes are often associated with infectious mononucleosis.

4 Hypersensitivity syndrome
A multiorgan drug-induced reaction Aromatic anticonvulsants phenytoin, carbamazepine, and barbiturates lamotrigine, minocycline, dapsone, allopurinol, and sulfonamides, abacavir and zalcitabine in HIV-infected patients. Widespread erythematous eruption that may become purpuric or lichenoid Fever, facial and periorbital edema, lymphadenopathy, leukocytosis (with atypical lymphocytes and eosinophils), hepatitis, nephritis or pneumonitis. Reactivation of herpes viruses, especially of herpes virus 6, has been reported to be frequent in this syndrome. Allopurinol is a drug used primarily to treat hyperuricemia original antibacterial sulfonamides

5 Eosinophilia Normal value: 0~5% Allergy and drug hypersensitivity:
Asthma, hayfever Parasitic infections Dermatologic disorders Dermatitis herpetiformis, pemphigus, and erythema multiforme cause eosinophilia. Hypereosinophilic syndrome persistent eosinophilia of longer than 6 months associated with organ damage the heart, CNS, skin, and respiratory tract are commonly involved

6 Referance eMedicine Harrison’s principal of internal medicine, 17th edition
