How to create an oral research presentation
English 12CP Senior Anthology
2
Purpose of an oral presentation
To communicate the importance of your topic. Clearly state your findings and what these findings mean Prompt others to take interest in your topic and to ask questions
3
Technical aspects of presentation
Use simple backgrounds that are easy to see for your audience Always use the same background throughout Try not to use backgrounds that are distracting and difficult to read the words Use text color that contrasts with the background Use color for emphasis Keep colors simple; less is more Use colors sparingly Pictures are a great way to communicate your point
4
Technical aspects of presentation
Avoid text heavy slides. This means that your slide should not be filled with words. Avoid full paragraphs. Create one slide for each main point: That makes it easier for your audience to follow, it keeps the presentation focused, and the audience will listen to you instead of reading ahead.
