2 H AWAIIAN M USIC A SHLEY B ARR In earlier times, chant was a way of remembering myths of gods and deeds of powerful people Western string instruments and Christian hymns were introduced to Hawaii in the 19 th century and transformed the earlier forms of Hawaiian music

15 I NTEGRATED A CTIVITIES : M ICHELE S EPULVEDA Visual Arts After discussing Hawaiian Petroglyphs, students will create their own. They will be asked to create a Petroglyph that represents who they are. They can use modern symbols that represent their sports or hobbies.
