What is Blackboard? Blackboard is a course management tool for instructors who want to create web pages for their courses without the fuss of writing HTML code. Allows on-line quizzes, discussion boards and collaborative group work

Blackboard Timeline 1997 – Matthew Pittinsky and Michael Chasen (Blackboard LLC) merged with a student-faculty team at Cornell University to form Blackboard Inc. 1998 – Blackboard CourseInfo launched 1999 – grows more than 500 clients 2001 – grows more than 1,500 clients
