2. 2 COMPARISON OF PERCENT OF CHILDREN ELIGIBLE FOR ADOPTION BY CURRENT, PROPOSED AND ALTERNATE CRITERIA SFY 2007 – SFY 2009 Chart is based on children who were legally free for adoption, placed in adoptive homes or available for placement in an adoptive home during the year. A larger percentage of children would have been eligible for adoption assistance based on the Alternate criteria in all three fiscal years.

A larger percentage of children would have been eligible for adoption assistance based on the Alternate criteria in all three fiscal years.

4. 4 COMPARISON OF PERCENTAGE OF CHILDREN ELIGIBLE FOR ADOPTION ASSISTANCE BASED ON CURRENT, PROPOSED AND ALTERNATE CRITERIA SFY 2007 – SFY 2009 Note: SFY 2009 information may change slightly as there is a chance that not all information has been recorded for that time period. Proposed Criteria: Children who have been legally free for adoption for 12 months or more without an adoptive placement, part of a sibling group of two or more in same home, or has a special need. Alternate Criteria: Children who have been in foster care for 24 months or more, part of a sibling group of two or more in same home, or has a special need. Table Explanation In SFY 2009, there were 2,043 children who were legally free for adoption, placed in adoptive homes or available for placement in an adoptive home, during the year.  1,637 or 80.1% met the current criteria  1,585 or 77.6% would have met the proposed criteria  1,852 or 90.7% would have met the alternate criteria A larger number of children would have been eligible for adoption assistance under the alternate criteria in all three state fiscal years.
