HINTS 1. Choose Data Sets and click once on Census 2000 Summary Files 1 box. 2. Click on Geographic Comparison Tables. 3. Change level to Nation to State. Wait for pop-up menus on state name. Choose Michigan. Then State-County. NEXT. 4. Choose the obvious table and SHOW TABLE. Answers

Then add the Oakland County total to the table. HINTS 1. Choose Data Sets/Census 2000 Summary File 1. 2. Click on Detailed Tables. 3. Change level to census tract. Wait for pop-up menus. Choose all tracts. NEXT. 4. Change Detailed Tables menu from List of All Tables to Keyword Search. Search median age. Highlight obvious table and ADD. 5. Once you have first table, CHANGE SELECTIONS/GEOGRAPHY. 6. Choose COUNTY level for new geography, then Oakland. ADD Answers

HINTS 1.Choose Data Sets/Census 2000 Supplementary File, Detailed Tables. 2.Choose county level, Michigan, Washtenaw, ADD, NEXT. 3. Click on Keyword. Search median gross rent. Highlight table and select. SHOW Table. 4. Write down data. Then CHANGE SELECTIONS/Data Set. 5. Accept Washtenaw County by pressing NEXT. 6. Change to keyword searching. Search median gross rent. Highlight table and ADD. SHOW TABLE. Answers

HINTS 1. Choose Thematic Maps. 2. Change to Summary File 1 Data Set if necessary. 3. Choose county level for geography even though your goal is tract. 4. You can choose your theme by subject or list all themes. 5. Your initial map will show county subdivisions but you can change it to census tracts using the pulldown menu. Answers

Then find a thematic map that shows the percent of families and persons in poverty in Washtenaw County. HINTS 1. Type the word “poverty” in the keyword box. 2. Browse down the search results to 1990 Summary File 3. 3. Click on MORE to expand the list and then choose the table. 4. Choose all tracts for Washtenaw County and ADD. You may need to remove the nation. 5. After your table appears, click on RELATED ITEMS to choose a thematic map on poverty. 6. If the map shows a county other than Washtenaw, change it using the LIST GEOGRAPHY method. Answers
