4 Definitions Position = location at a given time Distance = change in position ( e.g., 2 m ) Speed = (change in position)/time ( 4 m/s ) Velocity = speed & direction ( +3m/s, -5m/s ) Acceleration = (change of velocity)/time –change in speed implies acceleration –change in direction implies acceleration

5 Putting it all together Acceleration ramp (acceleration, time 1 ) Constant velocity plane (distance, time 2 ) What is relationship between the acceleration and time 1 on ramp and the velocity on the horizontal plane?
