Volunteering at Teen Court Chase Hinnant

I chose my topic because teens are starting to become more violent than ever and I feel that the Juvenile Court System should start cracking down to prevent violence.
3
Basic Research Juveniles are now more likely to commit violent crimes than adults 20% of all reported crimes are committed by juveniles The majority of these crimes are committed by 15-17 year olds
4
NC Laws/Regulations In NC a juvenile is anyone under the age of 16 Juveniles can be tried as young as 14 if the crime is considered heinous (in NC) In NC juveniles can not be sentenced to the death penalty
5
Laws 32% of teens say they think crime would reduce if laws were tougher Detention Centers Less than 20 percent of juveniles graduate high school Repeat offenders, poor living, struggle
6
Cases 15 year old set on fire and killed over video game Killers (15 and 16) tried as juveniles Manny: killed six month pregnant girlfriend, had past felonies and attended detention center, tried as juvenile
7
I believe teens should be tried as adults in the cases with violent crime. murder, non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault
8

Since the topic of my research was about juveniles in the court system, I decided Teen Court would be an appropriate choice to see how the juvenile court system worked and to learn what it felt like to have to make a decision about a juveniles life.

I learned a lot about myself as a researcher in this process. I learned that I in my research I respond and understand information better when its short and to the point.
13
As a producer I learned that a could have gone deeper into my product. I could have interviewed some of my peers or conducted a survey.
14
Overall this experienced with the Graduation Project has taught me how to.. manage time form a decision based on research how to work and produce a product These skills will not only help me in school but in life as well.
