12 THE INDICATOR The Business Barometer Indicator is the statistical mean of Situation and Expectation The BB expresses the state of the business confidence as an index, with 100 as the base index. It is calculated out of “current” business mood and “expectations” for the future. This simple “balance method” is applied by many Business Climate Indicators.

17 CONCLUSION. Confidence in the business environment dropped in Q1 2015 (85.0) as compared to Q4 2014 (98.0). Employment within the next six months is expected to decrease (especially if the current power crisis is not resolved.) Just as Q4 2014, businesses still remained under pressure from inadequate power supply, cedi depreciation, and difficulty in accessing credit

21 NEW ADDITIONS TO THE BUSINESS BAROMETER SURVEY Introduction of seasonal adjustment to the data analysis. This process eliminates every form of seasonality (eg. Easter & Christmas, dry & raining seasons) in the data set which might influence the business environment either negatively or positively; and reflects real sentiments of business owners. Regional Analysis. This will showcase detailed analysis on the various regions to discover prospects and/or challenges that are region- specific, hence aid our advocacy strategy.
