7. Huanghe Huanghe (Yellow River) derives its name from its yellow color, and is said to be the most dirt, sand and silt-laden river in the world. It is also called “Mother River”, since the Chinese culture started in the region around the river. It is the second largest river in China and the fifth largest river in the world with a length of 5,400 KMs. It starts from Neimeng (Inside Mongolia) and ends at Huanghai (Yellow Ocean). Throughout history, it has changed its course many times, resulting in huge disasters.
