INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM SETS & REPS DEPLOYMENT

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The IC is responsible for the initial & ongoing deployment of the resources REQUIRED to support all phases of Incident operations.

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IC’s must maintain an awareness of the standard TFS response levels, apparatus capabilities and available specialty apparatus. (know your resources)

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The Deployment process starts with Communications dispatching the appropriate level of resource for the problem described by the caller (our customer).

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The process continues with the 1 st arriving IC performing an initial Size-Up of Incident conditions to determine what resources are required to stabilize the Incident. (what do you need?)

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The Deployment of resources requires the IC to: Request Assign Track Rotate Rehab Clear crews as the Incident downgrades

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM One of the most critical pieces of the Deployment process is for additional responding Apparatus to report to a Base Sector and wait to be assigned by the IC. (Controlled arrival)

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM On Scene Crew Status: Unassigned  Staged  Rehabbing  Rehabbed / Ready to go On Deck  Relief Cycle  Reinforce  RIT Assigned  Initial crews  To a sector

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Teams being assigned at all incidents must operate within the TFS Incident Management System to ensure accountability and an effective command structure. *NO Freelancing

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Command needs to have a realistic awareness of the number of required tasks, their priority, and the time needed to complete those tasks prior to assigning crews to the hazard area.

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Once assigning units to the Fire Ground, the IC must track, account for, and manage the Work / Rest cycle of all crews. (FF Safety/Air Management)

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The IC’s level of organizational support needs to match the deployment of Incident resources: (span of control)  Sectors  Command Team  Branches

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Sets & Reps Based on the following scenarios: Estimate the amount of resources (alarm level) that will be required to stabilize the Incident The specific tasks that will be required to stabilize the Incident How long it will take to get companies to where the work needs to be done The tactical reserve needed to conduct safe operations
