Instantaneous Velocity The velocity at an instant of time. For a curved graph, use very small intervals of time.

ex: Find the instantaneous velocity at t=2.00s x 1.99 =18.761m x 2.01 =19.241m 24.0m/s (an equation of motion!)

Acceleration Acceleration is the rate at which velocity changes. Average acceleration: ex: A bicycle’s velocity changes from 6.2m/s, East to 1.4m/s, West in 7.34s. Find its average acceleration.

Uniform Acceleration Unchanging acceleration does NOT mean unchanging velocity.

Velocity-time Graphs Slope = acceleration Area=displacement When is it speeding up? When is it slowing?
