Public service, leadership development and education of youth are the hallmark of the organization's programs and activities. Sigma Gamma Rho addresses concerns that impact society educationally, civically, and economically.

Drive communications and promotions for the chapter Report information to The AURORA magazine, local media outlets Facilitate the process to create scrapbook and chapter displays for regional, national competitions Maintain social media sites and web platforms

Expanding Local Mobilization for Global Impact 2010 Area Meetings What role do you play - Tamiochus Serve as “banker”, making deposits, distributing payments Prepare financial reporting of receipts and disbursements, along with bank reconciliation Maintain records for audit Serve as financial lead on all financial projects, initiatives and planning Report financial standing of budget to the chapter

Create official record of business for the chapter meetings and board meetings Document correspondence received Track attendance at meetings Conduct roll call for meetings Prepare and distribute official minutes Assist Basileus as requested with sharing information or action with the chapter

Process payment receipts and vouch transactions for Basileus approval Prepare financial reporting of receipts, along with budget comparisons Maintain records for audit Serve as financial lead on all financial projects, initiatives and planning Report financial standing of chapter members and pending receipts, assessments

Serve as advisors for undergraduate sorors and liaison to/from the alumnae chapter Attend ALL chapter-sponsored activities of undergraduate chapters Assist undergraduate sorors in preparing for, registering and attending conferences Supervise all TORCH-related activities Connect with UCC for Advisor Training resources

Supervise chapter anti-basilei Drive alumnae membership activities – recruit, retain and reclaim Handle all TORCH activities of alumnae chapter Serve as collaborative lead for chapter activities that service the membership Serve in absence of chapter basileus

Drive strategic vision for the chapter Supervise all chapter officers-elected and appointed Coordinate external communications about the chapter with regional and national officers Provide general guidance to committee chairs Serve as ex-officio member of all committees

Expanding Local Mobilization for Global Impact 2010 Area Meetings Getting Down to Business Have clear distinct officers and duties Allow direction to be set by the basileus, with input from the executive board (3-4 goals for the year) Each officer should have their own goals for their office and report on them each monthly meeting (written) All goals should support the greater strategy or plan

Expanding Local Mobilization for Global Impact 2010 Area Meetings Getting Down to Business Be familiar with guidelines and policies locally, regionally and nationally Be financial by July 1 each year (collect dues in May) Attend conferences and opportunities for training – area conference, regional conference, Boule and Officer’s Essential Training Stay engaged – regional/national sites, officer contact, and holding roles

Expanding Local Mobilization for Global Impact 2010 Area Meetings Chapter Management The following items will help each chapter better realize fiscal and personal responsibility Properly written agenda presented at each chapter meeting Occurrence of regularly scheduled chapter meetings Robert’s Rules of Order properly used during chapter meetings

Expanding Local Mobilization for Global Impact 2010 Area Meetings Chapter Management (cont.) Officer Report Form submitted to Syntaktes and HQ by July 1 Chapter financial report submitted to chapter each meeting A chapter budget is prepared by the tamiochus each year

Chapter maintains adequate bookkeeping system that is maintained and reported to the chapter at least monthly Anti-Grammateus records are complete and accurate (agendas, minutes, correspondence received, officer reports and committee reports) Annual Chapter Report and 990 tax form is submitted to headquarters on time

Expanding Local Mobilization for Global Impact 2010 Area Meetings Chapter Relations Be mindful that each soror is an individual Practice what you preach – lead by example You don’t know it all – listen and learn Disagreement is fine and encouraged At the end of the day – we are all sorors Our business is OUR business

Wear your pin on a specific day with colors

Teachers/Educators – recruitment is from 8 to 80 Consider a Rhoer or Undergraduate chapter to build your pipeline
