Most FBI agents majored in Psychology, Political Science, Journalism, and Criminal Justice. Once in the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), there is a training process that includes classroom training and working with and experienced BAU agent for 2-3 years.

4 Salary The salary of an FBI BAU agent depends on the General Schedule (GS) of the agent. FBI BAU agents GS pay grade ranges from GS-10 ($45, ,505) up to GS-13 ($71,674-93,175) If the agent is a designated supervisor or executive they can make up to GS-14 ($84, ,104) or GS-15 ($99, ,517)

5 Working Hours Most FBI BAU Special Agents work around 50 hours a week.
The Special Agents hours come in shifts on a daily basis but they also work when they are assigned an assignment which can be at any point of the day.

6 Lifestyle The average special agent making a GS-10 to GS-13 pay grade will have a normal lifestyle making an average income. Special Agents making a GS-14 or GS-15 pay grade will have a more wealthy lifestyle, making a higher income than most people.

9 10 Characteristics Values: My values match those of a Special Agents because I believe in bringing justice to the right side. Tasks and responsibilities: In the BAU agents are working hard every day, which is something I admire and wish to do. Working with data-people-things: BAU agents focus prominently on data people and things to assess the criminal. Work Environment: BAU agents work in places all over the country for long periods of time, hey also have to be around lots of new people for every assignment. I prefer this scenario over just working by myself in an office. Working Hours: BAU Agents work around 50 hours a week and have assignments given to them at different times of the day, the are always working.

10 10 Characteristics Continued
Aptitudes and Abilities: BAU agents have to acquire skills with mental knowledge and piecing information together to make a profile for a criminal. I don’t have those abilities but I have the patience to acquire those abilities over time. Education and Training: BAU agents have to have at least 4 years of college and major in any field, training is also very long and hard which is something I am willing to be apart of. Salary and Benefits: The salary of an agent ranges from around $45, ,000 which is a normal to wealthy income. FBI agents receive health and life insurance programs, vacation and sick pay, and a full retirement plan. Career Outlook: Criminals are always arising and crime is always happening and I don’t think that will change in the next 10 years. International Career Outlook: I believe FBI Agents will have to travel internationally more frequently within the upcoming years due to the intermingling of crimes across borders.

19 Explanation FBI BAU Special Agent -Working as an FBI BAU Special Agent has always intrigued me. I find it ideal to become a Special Agent because of the dedication put into every case and the initiative to save lives. I strive to have a career in which I give back and I help other people. I could accomplish these goals by becoming a Special Agent in the BAU. Teaching -I chose teaching because I enjoy helping people move forward and helping people improve their education. Education is vital to contribute to the community and to make a living. I enjoy the thought of being the reason someone has furthered their education and made something of themselves because of what I have taught them.
