2 Deposit return systems and reverse vending pilot projects Zero Waste Scotland is investing in developing pilot ‘deposit return’ and ‘reverse vending’ schemes in Scotland, which will reward people for recycling empty bottles and cans through a range of incentives such as money back, discount vouchers or loyalty points.

4 Litter and flytipping Litter and flytipping have significant adverse consequences for the Scottish environment, economy and society and have been identified as key priorities by the Scottish Government. A society in which littering and flytipping are widespread is not a zero waste society.

5 Litter prevention innovation fund Zero Waste Scotland has launched a fund to give community organisations, local authorities, businesses and landowners, the chance to trial innovative projects to prevent littering.

7 Flytipping small grants scheme Supports landowners/managers and community groups in Scotland who have experienced persistent problems of flytipping To facilitate the removal of flytipping at upwards of ten locations during the current financial year (2012-13); and to prevent reoccurring flytipping at the same locations over the next financial year

9 Recycle on the Go Capital Grant Fund Providing easy-to-use, conveniently located recycling facilities in popular public locations will help Scotland achieve a higher recycling rate and bring financial benefits. Funding is available for the purchase of receptacles and bins in line with Zero Waste Scotland’s best practice technical guidance.

11 Anaerobic Digestion Recent approval of the Waste (Scotland) Regulations 2012 will lead to a substantial increase in the amount of feed stocks available to the AD and In Vessel Composting (IVC) sectors Zero Waste Scotland has funds available to make enhancements to existing AD/IVC infrastructure to increase the capacity available to process food waste
