Point Evidence Explanation P = Point – an opinion, idea or fact E = Evidence – this is used to back up your point. It can be a quotation from a text, the shorter the better. It can be close reference to a text. E = Explanation. This goes into more detail. It must link to the evidence. “From this we can see..” “This shows.”

Point Evidence Explanation Short answer question often requires just One PEE (2.5 Marks). If you are unsure about your answer PEE Twice If a short answer is worth 5 marks PEE Twice An extended question requires Three to Four PEEs. Extended answers require PEEs to link

Point Evidence Explanation Link to next point. It could be a sub-point. It could move on to something similar. It could move on to something new. Improve your essay structure by using clear transition or connecting words to help organise your ideas and to make it easier for the examiner to follow your arguments. For example: Firstly,... Secondly,... In contrast to... In addition... As a result....

Point Evidence Explanation Other tips – Try to use the wording of the question in your first sentence. – Try to include an introduction and conclusion. – Make them as clear and succinct as possible. – 'This essay will argue that...'; 'In conclusion,...' ; 'To sum up...’
