2 INTRODUCTION For our final project, we will be creating puzzles inspired by our chosen artist. We will then create a package, bag, box to contain the puzzle pieces with information about our artist. When we present, we will be “pitching” our ideas to the class to try to get them to “buy” your puzzle. Attached is a list of artists. Each of you needs to choose an artist to research. We have enough artists on the list that each of you should have your own artist. Please choose the top 5 that you would like and we will choose names randomly from a hat (to choose order of picking).list of artists. 4 BIG IDEA We will be exploring art history and the importance of art influences. You will be researching artists, their work and their influences. You will create a puzzle in the style and representation of your artist, as well as a container to hold your puzzle. Many artists sell their work, we will be “pitching” our final projects to the class to try to get them to “buy” your work. Throughout this project you will be completing research, as well as 2-D and 3-D artworks! 5 RESEARCH Research In order to make the poster and puzzle easy, you must do research on your artist. 6 3-D STUDIO You will be responsible for designing and constructing a package to hold your puzzle in which could be sold to the general public in an art museum gift shop. -Package must be made from recycled/found objects such as: boxes, cans, pipe cleaners, paper mache, cardboard, foamboard, etc. -Craftsmanship of the package -Your package must have the following on it: 1. Artist Name(Andy Warhol) 2. Life dates(1928 -1987) 3. Art Movement(Pop Art) 4. Title of Imitated work 5. Name of Puzzle -The package must relate to your artist in some creative way -FYI: These containers MUST be FUNCTIONAL (they must hold all puzzle pieces and have a lid that opens to put the pieces away/take the pieces out. 7 PRESENTATION You will share with the class information about your artist. This will be presented in order of history, so that the class will become knowledgable on the progression of art through history. (The historical order of artwork will be on your final exam) Presentation: must be 4-7 minutes in length 1. Poster: Name of Artist and photo, photo of selected work, 5 facts about the work selected (45 pts) 2. Name of the Puzzle 3. 8 PRESENTATION 4. unique selling point(s) 5. # of classmates that would want to “buy” it -Describe your relevance of your puzzle design and packaging design -Present your puzzle and package as if you wanted me (classmates) to buy your puzzle from the art museum gift shop. -When others begin presenting, you will get a sheet with everyone’s name/their artist name on it, you will get to pick 10 puzzles you would “buy”. 9 EXTRA CREDIT You can bring in food that relates back to your artist, their work and puzzle: Food must relate to your artist in some way. (EX: nationality, replica or artwork, related to their life - their favorite food?) Food must be prepared at home. It may be stored in the Foods Class. Please bring in plates, napkins, or utensils if necessary, and please plan to have enough for the class. After the presentations for the day, we will share the food that students brought.
