10. Ideas About Government We the People – pg 110 National government should be constitutional to limit the powers of the government. The purpose of government is protect rights and promote common good. Strong national government was need to protect rights. Representatives were needed to serve the common good. Separation of powers and checks and balances were needed to prevent the abuse of power.
