Kinetic Energy--Test 9.11 work power force applied force balanced force unbalanced force energy kinetic energy potential energy motion mass speed proportional linear ratio
3
Work When a force applied to an object, moves that object.
4
Power The rate at which work is done; the amount of work done per time it takes to do it.
5
Force Something that causes a change in the motion of an object, measured in Newtons.
6
Applied Force The force with which an object has been pushed or pulled by another object.
7
Balanced Force When two forces acting on an object are equal in size but act in opposite directions.
8
Unbalanced Force Forces that cause a change in the motion of an object because one force is of lesser magnitude than the other.
9
Energy Anything that can change the condition of matter. Commonly defined as the ability to do work.
10
Kinetic Energy Energy of motion.
11
Potential Energy The stored energy that an object possesses because of its position with respect to other objects.
12
Motion Change in the position of an object.
13
Mass The amount of matter in an object.
14
Speed The time rate at which distance is covered by a moving object.
15
Proportional Having a constant ratio to another quantity.
16
Linear A relationship in which increasing or decreasing one variable will cause a corresponding increase or decrease in the other variable too.
17
Ratio A comparison between two numbers, showing the relationship between the two.
