5. Linking Verbs Definition: A linking verb connects the subject to a noun or adjective that identifies it or describes it. Examples: Mom was ready to go. Ms. Aldridge is a teacher. It tastes good.

8. Helping Verb Definition: A helping verb is a verb that comes before the main verb and adds to its meaning. Example: He was leading the race. He had been running the Race. He should have been winning the Race.
