Equator-An imaginary line that runs through the Earth. Latitude-Runs East to West but is measured North to south. Longitude-Runs North to South but is measured East to West. Degrees-stage in a scale of intensity or amount. Compass-instrument for determining directions Cardinal Direction- North,South,East,West. Intermediate Direct- Northeast,Northwest,Southeast,Southwest.

Intermediate –Now we are going southeast of our house when are we going to get there so I can go to sleep. Cardinal- We are going North of the Gulf of Mexico. Examples of Intermediate and Cardinal Directions

longitudelatitude Imaginary lines east or west from the prime meridian. It is located 20 degrees away from the prime meridian. Imaginary lines north or south of the equator. It is also located 20 degrees except not away from the prime meridian.

Step.1: Label the equator, prime meridian, and cardinal directions. Make blank coordinates. Step.2: Find the latitude. Check if its North or South of the Equator. Fill in first coordinates. DON’T forget degrees! Step.3: Find the longitude. Check if its East or West of the prime meridian. Fill in second coordinate. Don’t forget degrees! Step.4: Check to see if your fingers touch. Check if the quadrant matches the directions in coordinate Ex: 30 degrees South and 165 degrees East.
