Birth-Second Grade Requirements include: – Complete required testing if you do not hold a current valid license from another state. Praxis tests – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or universityHave completed three semester hours of credit in course of study involving parental involvement and family engagement; and – Have complete a program of preparation to teach that is approved by the board; and – Hold a license to teach that was issued by another stat and approved by commission; or – Hold either an elementary, secondary, that is endorsed with a major in child care – Have completed at least thirty-five semester hours of courses in early childhood education for children

Kindergarten-8 th grade Requirements include: – Complete required testing if you do not hold a current valid license from another state. Praxis tests – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university – Have completed a program of preparation for teaching in the elementary grades approved by the board. – Have completed: Three semester hours of credit in education or curricular adaptation for pupils with disabilities; and Three semester hours of credit in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement – Complete 12 semester hours of credit within the area of endorsement *An endorsement on an elementary license is not required to teach pupils in kindergarten through 8 th grade.

Substitute for Grades K-12 Requirements to substitute teach kindergarten through twelfth grade: – Be a citizen of the United States or be a lawful permanent resident of the United States with a valid Permanent Resident Card – Have earned a minimum of sixty semester credits, or an associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (reflected on an official transcript)

Special Education (Exceptional) License Intellectual Disabilities Complete the following required testing if you do not hold a current, valid license from another state in this subject area – Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators – Praxis Content Area Test Complete three semester credits in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement Have completed a program of preparation for teaching pupils who have intellectual disabilities, which has been approved by the Board; or Hold a license or certificate, issued by another state, with an endorsement to teach pupils who have intellectual disabilities; or Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the education of pupils who have intellectual disabilities and have completed eight (8) semester credits of student teaching, equivalent field experience or have one (1) year of verifiable teaching experience with such pupils; or

Reading Specialist Requirements include: – A Bachelor’s degree – Hold a valid elementary, middle school, secondary or special teaching license, excluding Business and Industry; and – Have at least sixteen semester credits in reading to include each of the following areas: Foundations of reading Elementary Methods and Materials Secondary Methods and Materials Diagnosis of reading disabilities; and A practicum in reading remediation

Art Specialist Requirements include: – Complete the following required testing, if you do not hold a current, valid license from another state in this subject area Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educator Principles of Learning and Teaching K-6 or 7-12 Praxis Content Area Test – Hold a Bachelor’s degree – Have completed three semester credits in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement – Also completed: Twenty-two semester credits of principles of fine and applied arts Thirty-six semester credits in the principles of fine and applied arts

Library/Media Specialist Have a valid elementary, middle school, secondary or special teaching license; and Have completed a program for school library media specialists which has been approved by the Board or regional accrediting association; or Hold a master’s or more advanced degree in library science, with specialization in school librarianship, from a school accredited by the American Library Association; or Have completed twenty-one semester credits of certain coursework

Physical Education Specialist Complete required testing if you do not hold a current, valid license from another state Hold a bachelor’s degree Have completed three semester credits in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement, and – Have completed an approved program of preparation for teaching physical education in kindergarten through 12 th grade; or – Have completed forty-two semester credits in required course work – Twenty-two semester credits in professional education

Music Specialist K-12 Complete the following required testing if you do not hold a current, valid license from another state in this subject area – Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators – Principles of Learning and Teaching K-6 or 7-12 – Praxis Content Area Test Hold a bachelor’s degree; and Have completed three semester credits in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement; and Have completed a program for teaching music approved by the Board; or Have completed – Twenty-two semester credits of professional education

Education Computer Strategist (Computer Applications) Hold an elementary, middle school, secondary or special license A program which has been approved by the Board for teaching computer-based applications Twelve semester credits which must include the following: – Educational issues relating to computers – Methods for teaching the integration of technology with curriculum; and – Methods for teaching computer applications

School Counselor Complete the following required testing if you do not hold a current, valid license from another state in this subject area – Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators – Praxis Content Area Test Complete three semester credits in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement Must hold a master’s or more advanced degree in school counseling; or Must hold a specialty credential as a National Certified School Counselor issued by the National Board for Certified Counselors; or Must hold a master’s or more advanced degree with major in counseling conferred by a regionally accredited institution Must hold a master’s or more advanced degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university and have at least two years of teaching experience or at least two years of school counseling experience and meet additional requirements

School Psychologist Complete three semester credits in a course study regarding parental involvement and family engagement; and Hold a certificate as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist issued by the National School Psychology Certification System of the National Association of School Psychologists; or Hold a graduate degree with preparation in school psychology

School Administrator Hold a valid elementary, middle school, secondary or special teaching license; and Hold a master’s degree; and Have completed three years of teaching experience in accredited K-12 schools; and Have completed at least twenty-four semester hours of graduate courses in the administration of a school Have completed an additional twelve semester hours of graduate courses which may include other courses considered to be part of an administrative program for educators, or hold a master’s degree or higher in educational administration from a regionally accredited college or university
