3 Birth-Second Grade Teacher  Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators  Praxis Content Area Test  Hold a bachelor's degree or graduate degree from an accredited college or university.  Have completed three (3) semester hours of credit in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement.  Hold an Elementary license, a secondary license, or a license to teach middle school or junior high school education, that is endorsed with a major in child care.  Have experience teaching pupils under six.  Have completed at least six (6) semester hours of courses in early childhood education.  Six (6) semester hours in child development and learning, with the content of the courses covering diversity in culture, language and ability.  Three (3) semester hours in family and community relations, including working with families.  Three (3) semester hours in assessment and evaluation for early childhood education.

4 Elementary Subjects K-8 Teacher  Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators  Praxis Content Area Test  Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.  Have completed, pursuant to the provisions of NAC 391.095, a program of preparation for teaching in the elementary grades which is approved by the Board.  Have completed, pursuant to the provisions of NAC 391.045: A. Three (3) semester hours of credit in education or curricular adaptation for pupils with disabilities; Three (3) semester hours of credit in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement.  Complete twelve (12) semester hours of credit within the area of the endorsement.  The following areas of endorsement may be added to an elementary license: Computers and technology relating to the use of computers, English, Health, Mathematics, Literacy, Science, Social Studies, Physical education, Bilingual education.  An endorsement on an elementary license is not required to teach pupils in kindergarten through eighth grade.

5 Substitute Teacher  Be a citizen of the United States, or be a lawful permanent resident of the United States with a valid Permanent Resident Card.  Have earned a minimum of sixty (60) semester credits, or an associate’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited college or university, as reflected on an official transcript.

6 Special Education (Exceptional Students) Teacher  Hold a license for the level of education in which the program is offered.  Have two (2 ) years of verified experience as a teacher in schools approved by the department.  Have completed twelve (12) semester hours of credit from an accredited college or university to include three (3) semester hours of credit in each of the following areas of study A. Characteristics and needs of gifted and talented pupils; B. Assessment of gifted and talented pupils and programs for such pupils; C. Curriculum in content areas for gifted and talented pupils; and D. Methodology and strategies for teaching gifted and talented pupils.

7 Reading Specialist  Hold a bachelor’s degree  Hold a valid elementary, middle school or junior high, secondary or special teaching license, excluding Business and Industry.  Have at least sixteen (16 ) semester credits in reading to include each of the following areas;  A. Foundations of Reading  B. Elementary Methods and Materials  C. Secondary Methods and Materials  D. Diagnosis of reading disabilities  E. A practicum in reading remediation

8 Art Specialist  Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators  Principles of Learning and Teaching K-6 or 7-12  Praxis Content Area Test  Hold a bachelor’s degree  Have completed three (3) semester credits in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement.  Twenty-two (22) semester credits of professional education.  Thirty-Six (36) semester credits in the principles of fine and applied arts.

9 Library/Media Specialist  Have a valid elementary, middle school or junior high school, secondary or special teaching license.  Have completed a program for school library media specialists which has been approved by the Board or a regional accrediting association.  Have completed twenty-one (21) semester credits in specific library and media training.

10 Physical Education Specialist  Hold a bachelor’s degree  Praxis Testing  Have completed three (3) semester credits in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement.  Have completed an approved program of preparation for teaching physical education in kindergarten through grade 12.  42 credits dealing with physical education.  Twenty-two (22) semester credits in professional education.

11 Music Specialist  Hold a bachelor’s degree  Praxis Testing  Have completed three (3) semester credits in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement.  Have completed a program for teaching music approved by the Board.

12 Educational Computer Strategist  Hold an elementary, middle school/junior high, secondary or special license.  Complete a program which has been approved by the Board for teaching computer-based applications.  Twelve (12) semester credits of specialized computer training and how to teach technology.

13 School Counselor  Praxis Testing  Complete three (3) semester credits in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement.  Must hold a master’s or more advanced degree in school counseling.  Must hold a specialty credential as a National Certified School Counselor issued by the National Board for Certified Counselors.

14 School Psychologist  Complete three (3) semester credits in a course of study regarding parental involvement and family engagement.  Hold a certificate as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist issued by the National School Psychology Certification System of the National Association of School Psychologists or  Hold a graduate degree with preparation in school psychology.  Have earned sixty (60) semester graduate credits from the required areas.  Have completed practicum and a minimum of a one-thousand (1000) hour internship in school psychology (refer to NAC 391.318 and NAC 391.319 for specific guidelines and options).

15 School Administrator  Hold a valid elementary, middle school/ junior high, secondary or special teaching license.  Hold a master’s degree.  Have completed three (3) years of teaching experience in accredited K-12 schools.  Have completed at least twenty-four (24) semester hours of graduate courses in the administration of a school.  Have completed an additional twelve (12) semester hours of graduate courses which may include other courses considered to be part of an administrative program for educators, OR hold a master’s degree or higher in educational administration from a regionally accredited college or university.
