Material analysis As we all know, Module Six is an elective one and the purpose of this course is to consolidate what students have already learnt, to further develop students’ English language ability. The main theme of this unit is stories, and I am going to talk about the first period of lesson one, stories from history, that is, reading comprehension. The focus of this period is to enable students to know the history through reading, to be specific, students should be able to get the general idea and some details of the historical event with the help of some necessary reading strategies

Student analysis Based on the one and a half year of senior English study, the students have adapted themselves to English learning through various activities, and they have acquired some independent and cooperative learning abilities. Therefore, the students won’t have much difficulty engaging in the tasks designed here.

Task two: Summary What do you think of the “disaster”? (free talk) Suggested answer: We know the volcanic eruption is terrible. Mount Vesuvius even destroy the whole Pompeii. However, we should say thanks to the volcano. Without the Mount Vesuvius, people now couldn’t know the existence of the city Pompeii. The concept of time is too abstractive but it is the historical story that could bring us to visit the lost world.With historical stories, we can remember the past, understand the present, and enjoy the future.
