Singapore is a country/city that is 3 times the size of Washington DC. It is located South of Malaysia in the Southeast Asia peninsula. Due to Singapore’s latitude, the climate is tropical with hot and rainy days.

Singapore’s population is very similar to the population in Houston. Singapore has a population of 5,000,000. The official language is Mandarin, English and Malay.

Even though Singapore is a very diverse city, the main religions are Buddhism, Islam, Taoism, Hinduism, and Catholicism.

The government in Singapore is very strict. The capital is also called Singapore (it is the same thing) The country has a democracy though no one really opposes the government. The country has a reputation of being very clean. For example, you may not chew gum in Singapore and you can not litter or you will be fined and jailed.

Singapore’s culture is very similar to the western culture seen in the United States and Europe. Singapore is one of the wealthiest Asian countries with a GDP of $240 BILLION. The average person makes $52,000 per year. Education is very important to the economic growth in Singapore. The literacy rate is 93%.

Interesting Facts in Singapore Singapore is one of the world’s smallest country. The US is 15,000 times bigger than Singapore. Singapore has the world’s first night time zoo.
