3 What is Junior Fairboard?  Selected individuals from Junior Leaders that assist with 4-H activities before, during, and after the 4-H Fair

4 How is Junior Fairboard Selected  Application  Community Service Projects  Projects you are interested in  Schedule  What leadership qualities you bring to the table  Applications are selected through a committee process based on:  Leadership qualities  Involvement in Service/Leadership Activities through Junior Leaders  4-H involvement  Acceptance letters are mailed to all selected applicants  25-30 Youth selected each year with 25-30 participating as Junior Fairboard Assistants

6 How does Junior Fairboard work?  Mandatory Training Sessions (2)  Assign/select a Junior Fairboard Assistant  7 th or 8 th grade Junior Leader or 1 st time Junior Fairboard participant/non-selected member  Project Selection  Based on activeness  Points based on 2 for each community service, 1.5 for committees, 1 per meeting  Building Project Day  Livestock Project Day(s)  Pre-Fair/Post Fair set up/take down

7 Why we do it?  Junior Fairboard is an opportunity for youth to take a more active role in the 4-H fair  It gives youth the opportunity to take on leadership roles and make an impact in each of the 4-H events at the fair  It helps shape 4-H events and programs at the fair to be youth driven and friendly with youth voice  Gives youth the opportunity to work with adults on 4-H projects and activities to see how everything works and happens  Strengthens the 4-H program and sets mentoring/role modeling examples for younger youth

8 What we learned from it!  Learn community involvement  Life skill development  Honesty  Time Management  Responsibility  Respect  Social Skills  Learn “behind the scenes” of the county fair and 4-H program activities at the county fair.
