What is a resume? It is a summary of the skills, qualifications, and experience you may have to offer. In other words, it is a snapshot of you.

Basic Rules for Resumes Name Address Phone number and E- mail (if you have one) Education Work History Experience Extracurricular Activities Can also include: Objective and Profile Foreign Language Military Service Willingness to travel Professional Affiliations Use white, ivory, or gray paper. Limit sentences to 10-12 words. “Short sentences are powerful sentences.” Don’t clutter.

Don’t Do’s Salary Requirements Personal Data: religion, race, health status Names and ages of family References’ names Current Employer’s phone number Photo Avoid fancy type such as outline, shadow, script, or other difficult-to-read styles.
