APPLICATION OF FUNDAMENTAL THEOREM OF ALGEBRA The number of complex zeros is equal to the highest degree of the polynomial. This includes zeros with a mulitplicity greater than 1. The sum of imaginary and real zeros always totals the number of complex zeros. The number of possible imaginary zeros is a multiple of 2 because imaginary zeros always come in conjugate pairs. The number of possible real zeros is equal to the number of total zeros decreased by a multiple of 2.
