5. Requirements of President Natural-born citizen of the U.S. At least 35 years old Resident of the U.S. for 14 years

6. Important Dates Election Day- First Tuesday (following the first Monday) in November Inauguration Day- January 20 th – Take the “oath of office”

7. Powers of the President Commander-in-chief – Head of military Chief Executive – Makes sure everyone in the executive branch are properly carrying out their duties Chief of State – In charge of foreign relations (can make treaties, but Senate has to vote on them)

9. Impeachment Removing an official from office Must be accused, then found guilty of any of the following: – Treason, bribery, other high crimes, or misdemeanors – Accusal occurs in the House of representatives – Trial takes place in the Senate (2/3 vote is necessary for removal)
