The History of Energy Consumption

 We don’t know, what there was in the beginning.  It might be, that there was silence.  And darkness.  And Vacuum.  And then...

 It all started with a Big Bang.  That was the moment, where energy was born.

IIn the beginning there was nothing. Everything was dark. Then God said to the light to be born, and it was born. This is how the Bible explains the birth of energy.

 Scientists however believe, that it was the big bang which gave energy a birth.

 The first energy source was the sun. It gave light and warmth during the day and helped the first humans search for food, …..

but once it went down, everything was dark and cold.

Then fire was discovered.

TThe ancient Greeks believed, that it was Prometheus who stole the fire from mount Olympus

Homo erectus however seems to have discovered fire caused through lightning.

He is believed to have been the first creature on earth to use fire.

 could warm them,  give them light and  keep dangerous animals away.  And this was almost one million years ago.

The primitive man had access only to the food he ate so his daily energy consumption has been estimated at 2.000 Kcal or 2.000 dietary calories.

Energy consumption of he hunting man found in Europe about 100.000 years ago was about 2,5 times that of the primitive man because he had better methods of acquiring food and also burned wood for both heating and cooking.

Energy consumption increased again by almost 2,5 times as man evolved into the primitive agricultural man of about 5.000 years ago who harnessed draft animals to aid in growing crops.

The advanced agricultural man of 1400 A.D. northwestern Europe again doubled the amount of energy consumption as he began inventing devices to tap the power of wind and water, began to utilize small amounts of coal for heating and harnessed animals to provide transportation.

And even in our days it is used for energy production. But, in order to have fire, fuel is needed. And this is Where the problem starts.
