Mathemorphosis Integrating Faith and Mathematics
2
Introduction Mathematics is purported to be the most difficult content area for faith integration. Faith integration in mathematics is more about the instruction than the content.
3
Integrative Question How can responsible mathematics teachers incorporate brain-based learning and technology to foster math literacy and problem-solving skills among 21 st century students?
4
Faith Assumptions God is the creator and sustainer of the universe (Psalm 19:1, Collosians 1:17). Man is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-28). God commands us to love Him and others (Matthew 22:36-40).
5
Teaching Assumptions As ministers of Christ, mathematics teachers understand and apply new knowledge about how the brain assimilates new information to develop more efficient instructional strategies that meet the needs of today’s students.
6
Accountability Math literacy and problem-solving skills are mandatory if our students are to function in the 21 st century. Teachers are responsible for preparing students to be productive citizens beyond high school (2 Timothy 2:15, Galatians 6:10).
