Name of Artifact: Current Issues Presentation Date: April 9, 2013 Course: Education 101 Brief Description: For this assignment, we will describe our initial observations about bullying in schools today. We will describe what bullying is and will evaluate our take on the pros and cons of bullying based on a law that is trying to be instated. Given this standard, we gained understanding that there is diversity in cultures and that everyone individual is different. Rationale: To document our understanding of Standard #2, Learning Differences, we included the idea of diversity in cultures, every individual is different, community, and higher learning for students. This assignment allowed us to learn that every student, no matter what race or background is different and that diversity may cause children to lash out in schools.

3 What is Bullying? Aggressive behavior Occurs mostly among school age children Power take over Can occur: physically, mentally & emotionally Very common today

4 Pro vs. Con Should there be a stricter law and policy enforced for bullying? Should the bullying laws and policies stay the same?

5 Pro Stricter law: lower occurrences of bullying Will create safer learning environment Remove distractions Nationwide law & policy Reduce suicides/ mental issues Increase confidence in former victims

6 Con Stricter Law &Policy Suspension only sets fire for bullies Possible wrongful punishing Doesn’t always stop bullies Same Law and Policy Not adequate for every state No progress in anti- bully movement More occurrences of bullying
